Things to do near Bluestone: Tenby

Back in May we had a brilliant few days break at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire. Although there was so much to do on site, we were keen to get out and explore some of the stunning coastal scenery. Tenby was definitely a highlight, with its beautiful sandy beaches, lovely shops and plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat.

The Harbour

If you’ve seen any photos of Tenby, it’s likely that you’ve seen the famous multi coloured houses sat high above the cliffs. We had a great time walking along the harbour and admiring the view.

South Beach

The South Beach is a stunning stretch of golden sand, just like the beaches you remember from your childhood. We loved walking along it, exploring the rocks and caves at the foot of the cliffs.

After all of our walking, we rewarded ourselves with some delicious ice cream and had a well earned rest. I was really impressed with Tenby, there is a good selection of shops-both independent and well known brands, and lots to see apart from the beaches. As a parent, I was also very happy to see there were clean public toilets in the centre of town (near the harbour, through the arch heading down to Castle Beach). We took the opportunity to stock up with food as there is a large Sainburys in Tenby. Although there is a shop on site at Bluestone, it was quite small and relatively expensive.

We didn’t have time, but I would’ve liked to have explored the site of the old castle, on a headland overlooking the beaches. Oh well, I guess that’s another reason to make a return visit one day!
