A Brilliant Summer and One Final Treat
This Summer really has been one of the best. We’ve enjoyed fantastic walking weekends in the Peak District, the Lake District and the Cotswolds (mostly in glorious sunshine). We’ve stayed at some great campsites and explored some of England’s loveliest countryside.
Away from walking, we had a super relaxing week in Crete, followed by a super raucous weekend at my parents’ smallholding in Normandy celebrating my Mum’s 50th Birthday. We’ve had a christening and a couple of weddings and spent far too much time in too many pubs. It’s been brilliant!
But now the summer is drawing to a close and you can feel the change in the air. The nights are drawing in and the mornings are a little chilly. I personally love Autumn but after such a great Summer I can’t help feeling a little bit deflated. So we decided that we needed something to look forward to.
For a while we’ve talked about doing a coastal walk, however living in landlocked Northampton doesn’t make it very easy to escape to the sea! After much deliberating we’ve decided to head to Southwold in a couple of weeks. As it’s a bit cooler now, and we’re wimps, we’re leaving our trusty tent behind and treating ourselves to a couple of nights in a B&B. We’re hoping to combine our love of walking with good ales and fine food (especially fish and seafood). I can’t wait, it seems very fitting to be seeing 2013 out with one final treat before we start planning next year’s adventures!
