Relaxing off the trail in Italy

As you all know, I really like Italy. A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to visit the country. But, that was a work trip. One day I hope to go back and enjoy some of the wonderful hikes Italy has to offer. So, I have been doing a bit of research. 

More recently, I’ve been looking at things we can enjoy when we are not hiking. Planning what you do in between hikes is just as important as planning your walks. You want to experience the culture of the place just as much as you want to be able to enjoy good hiking. 

Attend an opera

When it comes to Opera Tickets Italy is a great place to buy them. The prices are very reasonable and almost regardless of what part of Italy you are visiting you will be able to find a performance near you.

I am always looking for interesting things to do in the evenings when it is too dark to hike. Going to the theatre to see an opera, play or concert is a great way to end your day and wind down.

Enjoy a proper Italian meal

There is no doubt that the Italians know how to eat. There are fast food joints creeping in. But, for the most part, Italians still like to sit down and eat a proper meal. They tend to take their time too. You have to if you are eating 3 or 4 courses. So, one night forget having a burger or bar snack and go out to a proper Italian restaurant.

Take a walking tour

If you love hiking the chances are that you will enjoy a walking tour of the town or city you are staying in. A lot of them are run by local residents. Usually, you get to see and experience things that you would otherwise miss. Ghost tours are always fun.

Visit a vineyard

As someone who works in the wine trade, wherever I go I tend to find myself in a vineyard. I just can’t stay away. But, I also think that they are great places for most other tourists to while away a few hours. They are beautiful and, of course, you get the chance to sample the wine that the vineyard produces.

Enjoy some adventure sports

In most parts of Italy, you can enjoy adventure sports. There are plenty of options to choose from. But, it is worth doing your research. Before you go find out what is available and book in advance whenever you can. Make sure that the equipment and kit you need is included in the deal. You don’t want to get there and discover you can’t do the activity because you are wearing the wrong shoes. It is also important to check whether that activity is covered by your travel insurance. This article will help you to do this.
