Review: Rohan Women’s Winter Roamers

Review: Rohan Women’s Winter Roamers

I don’t know what it is about me, but I can never find a pair of walking trousers (well, actually any trousers) that fit well. I consider myself average height and size, but it’s always a nightmare finding a pair that are just right.

Laying down the Challenge

I’ve recently been wearing some cheap Mountain Warehouse walking trousers as I hate spending money on something that isn’t quite right. They’re fine, but very thin so I have to wear a pair of tights underneath in the winter. When Rohan got in touch to see if we could work together, I quickly said yes, providing they could find me the perfect pair of trousers!

I wanted something that was thicker than my old trousers, but still lightweight and comfortable for a day out walking. I was recommended a few different pairs, but I was immediately drawn to the Winter Roamers as they sounded perfect for my requirements.

I love the look and feel of my new Rohan trousers

Initial Impressions

From the start I was really impressed with the quality of the Winter Roamers. They felt very well made and the fleece lining offered enough warmth for a winter walk, without being too heavy and thick. I went for the granite colour and I think I made the right choice as it goes with all of my walking gear (and my work uniform!).

Not too soon after ordering the trousers, I found out I was pregnant. I was worried that I may not get much wear out of them, or maybe they wouldn’t be comfortable anymore. As it turns out, I’m still wearing them a lot as they sit very nicely under my rapidly growing bump. In fact, they are currently my most comfy trousers so I’ve been wearing them to work everyday! I can confirm that after wearing them for a ten hour shift everyday,  as well as out walking, I have thoroughly tested them and I still love them. The stretch fabric means that they fit very nicely, but still allow freedom of movement without being baggy and flapping around.

Attention to Detail

As well as looking and feeling great, I love the little details on these trousers. They have two deep pockets, as well as two zip up pockets, one on the leg and one inside a pocket. I have an irrational fear of losing my keys while out walking, so I love having secure pockets to keep my valuables in. I also love how lightweight and quick drying they are. These are going to be perfect for camping and walking trips for many years to come. Compared to my other trousers, they are so much warmer, and very importantly, they are windproof, which is very handy when you’re on top of a hill! They are also breathable, so I’ve never got too hot in them, even on milder days, which is something I’m always wary of with lined trousers.

The lining on these trousers is just perfect, warm but also breathable and light.

Final Thoughts

I think that Rohan may well have found me the perfect pair of trousers! I’ve pretty much live in my Winter Roamers since I got them, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of them for many years. They are a little more than I would usually pay for trousers, but they are well worth the investment. They are ideal for walking and camping trips, as well as being smart enough to wear to work and out and about. My only criticism, and it really is nitpicking, is that it only has a popper instead of a button and they keep popping open (although hopefully that’s only temporary!).

Have you found your perfect walking trousers?

    Fab review.

I, like you before trying these trousers, just used to where tights under leggings when it was cold (with waterproofs on top when it got really cold. Gets a bit uncomfortable though. I’ll have to look into some outdoor trousers.
