Review: Hi-Tec Altitude Alpyna Women’s Boots

Review: Hi-Tec Altitude Alpyna Women’s Boots

I’ve tried out a lot of footwear over the years and so I like to think I know what I’m looking for in a pair of walking boots. When Hi-Tec got in touch and sent me some boots to try, I couldn’t wait to get out and put them to the test.

For me, the balance is always finding boots that are rugged and tough enough to support my feet over tough terrain, but are also light and comfortable enough to wear for long periods.

I really liked the look of the Hi-Tec Altitude Alpyna I Waterproof boots so was keen to see how they performed

Feel

When I first put on a pair of boots, I want to feel that my heel and ankle are supported and there is adequate cushioning to support my feet. These boots immediately felt comfortable and I also liked the fact that they are relatively lightweight.

I liked the way that these boots looked and felt on my feet

I’ve been wearing them for a few weeks now, mostly lowland walking, and so far I’ve been really impressed. Admittedly, I haven’t hit any serious hills lately, but all indications are that these boots would have no trouble dealing with more demanding hikes.

The Hi-Tec Altitude Alpyna I boots feature a host of impressive features

Features

The Altitude Alpyna I Waterproof boots are obviously waterproof, which is important to anyone spending any time in the UK! The i-Shield, not only repels water, but also keeps dirt and stains at bay. This hopefully should keep my boots looking good for as long as possible. While wearing these boots, I’ve been impressed with how comfortable my feet have felt. The micro-fleece lining is really good at wicking away moisture so my feet were always dry and at a comfortable temperature. The OrthoLite® Impressions insole also added the cushioning that I look for in my walking boots. This is really important if you’re going to be on your feet for a long period of time. It was sometimes wet and muddy when I was trying these out, but luckily they had plenty of grip so it wasn’t a problem, even on slippery rocks.

Verdict

I love the look and style of these boots, they’re a bit different to my usual footwear but they felt great straight away. They were soft yet supportive around my ankles and the cushioning was perfect. I also liked the metal eyelets, meaning that I could lace them up securely for a good fit. At £99.99, they are probably at the top end of what I would pay for a pair of boots, but the impressive features mean that they should last for many miles of walking.

We’re aiming for the easier #walk500miles with the Country Walking magazine. Mostly pounding our local pavements, but getting out in the countryside where possible too.

They sound like a very capable boot Lauren. I know Hi-Tec won a few awards and magazine accolades last year so it’s grwat to know that some of the more affordable brands are knocking out top quality gear. #adventurecalling

I do a lot of walking as I have an excitable dog! We mostly walk around the country parks and woods local to us, but I love a trip to the Peaks for some scenery or walking up the Long Walk to Windsor Castle for a sense of historical grandness!
