My Family Flapjack Recipe
My whole family are massive fans of flapjack, and as it makes the perfect walking or camping snack, I thought I’d add the recipe to my blog.
Preheat oven to 180
100g butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
2 tablespoons honey
50g soft brown sugar
250g oats
25g plain flour
150g dried fruit, chopped nuts and/or seeds (can use any combination -whatever you like here!)
Put butter, syrup, honey and sugar in a heavy bottomed saucepan and melt over a low heat.
Put rest of the ingredients in a large bowl. When the butter, sugar and syrup mixture is all melted, pour over the oats and stir until well mixed.
Put in a lined brownie tin and cook for 20mins or until golden brown. Cut while still warm and leave in the tin to cool.
I LOVE flapjacks – never seen the addition of honey though. Will try it next time!x #howtosunday
The honey is my mum’s addition, I really like it so use it in my flapjack!
I love a flapjack. It’s a cake but, at a push, it counts as breakfast, hurrah!
Definitely counts as breakfast-oats are good for you 😉
That definitely sounds tasty! A great idea for walking and when you’re out with the kids and need a little energy to get back home again! I will have to try this sometime soon, I’m sure O would like to help me make it!
Thanks for linking up to #HowtoSunday 🙂 x
Yum! Haven’t found a flapjack recipe I like yet. Going to try this one as it sounds divine!!
Mmmmmm flapjack is my favourite. I have an old recipe but recently I cannot make it work, which is weird and annoying. I shall have to try yours out!
Flapjacks are a great energy boost when hiking, I love them, will try this recipe soon.
Thank you
Flapjack is one those that I don’t think about often but when I do, I think I should eat more of it. A nice afterwards workout food. Looks delish! I’m going have to find a recipe without the butter or honey tho as I’m working on going vegan.
Thanks for stirring my taste buds! x
The original recipe just used syrup, it’s my mum who added the honey. Sure you could use a vegan friendly spread (does that even exist?) instead of butter. Either way, it’s a great snack and perfect for taking out walking!
