15 Things to do in Northamptonshire this Halloween

Halloween has become an important day in recent years – just ask my kids, they love it and have been counting down the days since they went back to school in September. Whether you love it or hate it, it definitely livens up the October half term and there’s so many exciting local events to visit across Northamptonshire.

Here’s 15 places in Northamptonshire to visit this Halloween

Saturday 18th October – Sunday 2nd November Evenley Wood Garden, NN13 5SH

Evenley Wood hosts a Halloween Spectacular this October, including a spooky trail, magical story telling and a fancy dress competition. The garden will be open unitl 7pm on 25th/26th Oct and 1st/2nd Nov so you can explore the wood in the dark – don’t forget your torch!

Wednesday 22nd October, and Weds 29th and Thursday 30th October, 11am-12pm Lamport Hall and Gardens, NN6 9EZ

Come down to our magical woodland summer house to read spooky and Halloween themed stories suitable for all ages. Price includes a spooky themed sweet treat. £4 per child, £3 for additional siblings, under 1s and over 11s free. Recommended for ages 0-11.

Friday 24th – Saturday 1st November, Chester House Estate, NN8 2DH

Chester House is home to Spooksville – If You Dare this half term. Activities include pumpkin carving, the haunted pumpkin patch and the hay bale tractor maze.

Thursday 23rd and Wednesday 29th October Kelmarsh Hall, NN6 9LY

Kelmarsh Hall invites you to Enchanted Kelmarsh this half term, a magical family friendly event suitable for age 5 upwards. Tickets are £20 per child and include all activities, adults go free.

Saturday 25th October – Sunday 2nd November, Stanwick Lakes, NN9 6GY

There is soooo much going on at Stanwick Lakes this half term, including a spooky glowing Halloween Trail, a host of ranger led activities and Willow Lantern workshops.

Saturday 25th Northamptonshire Day, Market Square Northampton

Head to the Market Square from 1-7.30pm and celebrate everything great about Northamptonshire! Including food and drink, family activities and live music.

Saturday 25th – Saturday 1st November The Canal Museum, NN12 7SE

Pop down to Stoke Bruerne and follow the clues to get your Halloween treat! £1.50 per sheet.

Saturday 25th October – Sunday 9th November Lyveden New Bield, PE8 5AT

There is a host of activities at Lyveden this Autumn, including the Hallowtide family trail, campfire cooking (Tues 28th), Haunting Halloween Stories 6-7pm (29-31st Oct) and a decorative lantern craft activity on the 30th Oct.

Saturday 25th October – 2nd November Castle Ashby Gardens, NN7 1LF

Follow the spooky-fun trail around our gardens spotting the hidden pumpkins along the way! There is a spooky cavern on the way – enter if you dare! – and see if you can find the Wicked Witch. Children and toddlers (aged 1-16 years old) will be given a Pumpkin Hunt Sheet to fill in. At the end of the trail, children (3-16 years old) will receive a Halloween gift bag and toddlers (1-2 years old) will receive a magical fairy tale book!

Saturday 25th – Friday 31st October Delapre Abbey, NN4 8AW

There are a host of Halloween activities taking place at Delapre this half term, including various outdoor film club showings, Creepy Creature afternoon tea (various dates), Preacher the Storyteller (29th Oct) and a Halloween Spooktacular on 31st.

Saturday 25th-Sunday 26th October Northampton and Lamport Railway

Hop on board the ‘Hocus Pocus’ trains or, if you’re brave enough, the Eerie Night Time Express for this Halloween weekend special.

Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October, and Tuesday 28th – Thursday 30th October, Rockingham Castle, LE16 8TH

Rockingham Castle is home to Halloween Fun this half term. Follow the craved pumpkin trail and enjoy a host of family friendly activities. All children receive a goody bag, pre booking is advised.

Sunday 26th October – The Picturedrome, NN1 4BN

Halloween Family Silent Disco, 1pm-3pm, tickets from £8

Wednesday 29th October Lighthouse Theatre, NN15 6PB

The Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering hosts their Halloween Spooktacular on 29/10 at 2.30pm. Jam-packed with your favourite Halloween Hits and amazing ultra-violet puppetry, HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR is guaranteed to bring a smile to children of all ages from 3 to 103!

Wednesday 29th October Canons Ashby, NN11 3SD

Get into the spirit of Halloween with a Pumpkin candle holder workshop on 29/10 (normal admission applies, plus £3.50 for the activity). Also, between 17th October and 9th November, the Poison and Plants trail will be available (£2 per trail)
