Update on my Walking Challenge for The Lullaby Trust

As you may know, I have set myself a big challenge for this summer. In about 10 days time, I plan to set out on a 50 mile walk in aid of The Lullaby Trust following the Northamptonshire Round. I’ve been busy making final preparations and getting my kit together.

The Northamptonshire Round is a 50 mile circular route around Northampton

The route starts and finishes at Brixworth Country Park and passes through some beautiful countryside and lovely villages. I had originally planned to do it in one go and aim to complete the walk inside 24 hours. However, I have now had a rethink on this. I feel a bit bad as I am chickening out a little bit, and some people have already sponsored me, but I think I’ve made the right decision. I’m now going to do it over two consecutive days, the 10th and 11th June.

Here’s a map of the Northamptonshire Round

I’m still going to set off early Saturday morning and I hope to get as far as Hartwell on day 1, picking up where I left off on Sunday morning to do the rest.

This is definitely the right choice. I’ve been so busy at work that I’ve done nowhere near enough preparation to do it in one, plus this is still a massive challenge! I’m basically walking two marathons in two days, which is further than I’ve ever done before and I still think that’s worthy of a little sponsorship.

As well as setting myself a challenge, and of course raising some very worthwhile funds for The Lullaby Trust, I’m also hoping to really showcase Northamptonshire. I want to take lots of video and photos to show what a beautiful county I live in. This is obviously going to slow me down a little, but I think it’ll be worthwhile. I can’t wait to share my record of the route with everyone, which is another reason to break it up.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, even if it’s just £1, I would be so grateful. You can donate by texting HHLT99 £5 (or £1 or whatever you want) or via my justgiving page.
