A Family Walk in Badby Woods

A Family Walk in Badby Woods

Yesterday we had a lovely walk around Badby Woods. It’s a beautiful spot and we really enjoyed a bit of family time. We’re lucky in that Finn loves going in the carrier, and pretty much laughs the whole time!

Since Luke’s had his new camera we’ve been experimenting with a bit of filming, a bit more practice and hopefully we’ll be able to produce some interesting videos. In the meantime here’s a very happy baby doing what he loves (and me pretending to be a horse, as you do!)

It was such a relaxing, peaceful walk (well, apart from Finn’s giggling!) and a great way to spend a Sunday.

Here’s hoping Finn retains his love of the outdoors, well let’s face it, he doesn’t really have much choice!

Tom loves the trotting horse impression when we are out with the back carrier as well…isn’t it lovely to hear them have so much fun?

I meant to ask on a different post of yours, but here will do – when you hike solo with Finn, what do you take in way of baby supplies? I’ve been limiting our outings to about 2 hours so I can fit everything in my pockets, but haven’t worked out yet how to carry supplies for longer walks without using the buggy…

I love hearing Finn behind me laughing his little head off! I’ve been meaning to put together a post about what I take with me. Really should get on with that! I rarely go out for longer than about 2-2.5 hrs on my own with baby but our carrier has got quite a big storage compartment-saying that I wouldn’t want to take too much-he’s heavy enough as it is. I usually take snacks & drink for both of us, waterproofs (both) and extra layer, hat etc for Finn. I’ll also take wet wipes, a nappy and plastic bag for rubbish. Oh and a basic first aid kit. I keep food, milk, clean set of clothes and extra nappies in car so as soon as we get back I can change and feed Finn. I also stuff my pockets with as much as possible!

Ah. Storage compartment. The advantage of having a proper backpack carrier! Thanks for the reply L

Yeah sorry-I’ve got no secret hack I’m afraid. Although I guess a good old bumbag might be useful?!

Lucy, if you’re back carrying then a cross-shoulder bag is great. I carry my 21 month old everywhere on my back and just use an adjustable cross shoulder with nappies, wipes, spare clothes rolled up, food and water.
Love this post, he is so happy and giggly in the backpack, he clearly loves being outdoors as much as you do and I’m sure that if he’s always outdoors then he will be outdoorsy himself! I think it’s worked with my boys so far too, even though there is resistance to walking without a balance bike now..
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather ๐Ÿ™‚ x

Oh my gosh he is so, so adorable!!!! That baby carrier is great. We really, really need to invest in one. Is it quite a weight on your back or is it pretty well distributed? That’s all I worry about because i have one shoulder that really doesn’t like me.

I can’t get over how giggly he is. It sounds like he really loves walking about outdoors with you all, definitely a big outdoors fan in the making. What beautiful pictures too. I can’t wait to see you do more videos. I think videos really capture everything so much better. If only I was brave enough to dabble! Thank you so, so much for sharing this on #whatevertheweather x

Ah thanks! He is very cute if I do say so myself ๐Ÿ™‚ The carrier is actually very comfortable, the weight is distributed very evenly. I just make sure it is high enough and tight enough around my waist then I can take most of the weight on my hips. It’s worth maybe visiting an outdoor shop and trying a few different ones as I’m sure there’s one that would suit you.

Walking with a back carrier is so much easier than chasing a toddler around! We occasionally go on walks but I like to lead! It’s drives my mummy nutty! She used to front carry me as a baby but now I’m too fidgety;) great set of photos looks like you had a good time x #CountryKids

Oh I know! We’re making the most of it until Finn finds his feet-then there’ll be no stopping him!

What a cutie you have there and I love your klittle video it really made me smile, I do hope you keep them up. What a stunning place to walk and a carrier like that looks just the job though it must get heavy after a while. Mine always fell asleep in them, clearly we didn’t take them anywhere interesting enough or play horses. Wonderful post, thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.

I’ve been to Badby twice recently for work – it’s so beautiful, I love the west of the county and really should embrace the A14 more often to explore some more. Thanks for the kick up the bum!
