Preview: Timber Festival 2019
Last year we were invited along for the inaugural Timber Festival held in the National Forest near Ashby de la Zouch. We were offered weekend tickets, but as I was 36 weeks pregnant and it was sooooooooooo hot (really really hot) I asked if we could just go along for a day to see what it was all about.
Finn and Luke enjoying the sun at Timber 2018We all had a brilliant day. We couldn’t mange a lot as I was so fat and very very hot (have I mentioned it was hot?!) but still had lots of fun. I was impressed with how professional and smooth it all seemed despite the fact that it was the first year, although it is the same team behind the Just So Festival, so I shouldn’t have expected anything less. In fact, we obviously weren’t the only ones impressed as Timber won Best new Festival at the UK Festival Awards.
Not that I ever expect anything, but I really hoped we would get a second chance to enjoy the whole weekend, and this year my wish has come true.
‘Museum of the Moon’ was a highlight of Timber festival 2018 for usAll four of us are heading up to the festival site on Friday 6th July for two nights of food, music and thought provoking experiences. I have flicked through the programme and my head is spinning with all the things I want to see and do. I’m also excited as Finn is a little bit older, so I think he’ll get so much more out of it this time around.
What are we looking forward to this year?
Finn: Giant Marble Run and Hammer and Chisel
Luke: Outdoor Survival Cooking
Ollie: Campfire Stories
Me: The Baron in the Trees
It will be our first time at a festival with two kids (one under a year) so any tips are gratefully appreciated!
