Steall Waterfall, Glen Nevis

Steall Waterfall, Glen Nevis

As we’re always on the lookout for scenic walks and great photo opportunities, we couldn’t resist a visit to Steall Waterfall. It is about 7 miles south east of Fort William and well worth a visit if you are in the area. As Scotland’s second highest waterfall, it certainly lived up to our expectations.

It is just a short walk from the car park to the waterfall, although there is plenty of opportunity for longer, more challenging hikes in the area (Walkhighlands has some great routes)

I think it’s best if I shut up now and just let the photos do the talking!

We returned via the opposite bank which gave us the chance to cross the river via the wire bridge. (Note my natural grace and elegance coming to the fore here!)

I’d love to hear about other waterfalls, UK and abroad, that are worth a visit.

Steall Waterfall looks stunning – I am a big fan of waterfalls – who isn’t? I never realised it was Scotland’s second largest. We were in the Fort William area years ago so I am gutted we didn’t make the effort to see this! Thanks for linking up with #MondayEscapes

We’ve just visited Fort William and took the walk up to the waterfall too. My other half went across the bridge but I was a ‘spoilsport’ and only let the kids on it up to the waters edge! (The youngest could only reach the wire on one side). #Mondayescapes

I think that’s fair enough, I was pretty scared and I’m a proper grown up! Hope you enjoyed visiting the waterfall, we loved it around there 🙂

Oh wow, this is stunning – and that blue sky too, not what you expect from the Highlands. #mondayescapes

We were so lucky, had great weather all week. The spectacular scenery looked even better in the sun!
