Summer Leys Nature Reserve

Summer Leys Nature Reserve

We’re not all lucky enough to live in an AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) or a National Park, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find your own oasis of  beautiful countryside wherever you live. (I know I hark on about this a lot, but it’s so true.) One of my favourite places is Summer Leys Nature Reserve near Wellingborough. It may be small, but it really is perfectly formed. You can walk around in about an hour (if you stride like me and Luke) or a bit longer if you amble and stop at the hides along the way. It’s a great place to birdwatch, but I just simply like to escape for a quick breath of fresh air and take in the calming surrounds. The paths are mainly flat and accessible to all,  some bits along an old railway, although there is one small section that can be a bit muddy in the winter. I particularly enjoy the peace of Summer Leys, it’s never very busy, has free car parking and nice views. What more could you want?

Stunning Lauren! Definitely agree that we can all find our own oasis of beautiful countryside:) We live in the Cotswolds and so we are very fortunate to have lots of stunning spots to explore!

I love the Cotswolds, we’ve had some lovely trips out that way, you’re very lucky! We live in a town centre but are lucky enough to have a couple of parks nearby. You’ve got to make the most of what you’ve got!

Oooh you are near me! I live in Milton Keynes and have friends who live in Welli. It looks beautiful, will definitely be going here next time I visit my friends. Beautiful.
