Review: Common End Farm Campsite

Common End Farm Campsite is a great value, friendly campsite with a warm welcome and good facilities. It is very close to Dovedale, making it the perfect place to camp for walkers looking to explore the area. While we were here, we did a couple of easy walks in the area. We stayed in the aptly named ‘Pretty Field’ which afforded beautiful views across the peaks. The pitches are large and we were able to pick our own spot; being able to park next to the tent was also a bonus. I particularly loved the laid back, relaxed nature of this site, plus there is plenty of open space for children to play. Common End Farm allows fires as long as they are off the ground, which is a great bonus. Firepits and logs are available on site.

The ‘Pretty Field’ had great views

The toilets and showers were always very clean at Common End Farm, although having only two showers did lead to queues at busy times. I was pleased to see there was a hairdryer provided as I have been known to suffer from camping hair anxiety (I’m only human). There are also shaver/toothbrush charging points in both male and female toilets.

There was also a spacious pot wash area and a freezer, which was free to use. Common End Farm has 8 grass (10amp), 3 hardstanding (10amp) and 8 (6amp) electric hook-up points available.

We tried the local pub, The Dog and Partridge, one night as it is a very short walk. Our meals were fine, although it was missing the cosy feel of a real local-obviously more aimed at passing trade and tourists.

2018 prices: £23 for an electric pitch, £18 non electric and £10 for a single person pitch

In summary, I would have no hesitation recommending Common End Farm campsite to friends, and I would definitely be happy to stay here again.
