Free things to do in Northamptonshire this Easter

Free things to do in Northamptonshire this Easter

I will be updating this post regularly, so if you’re looking for free things to do in Northamptonshire this Easter, please keep checking back.

After the success of my February half term post, I thought I’d do the same for the Easter Holidays. If you know of any more free days out or events happening, just let me know and I’ll add them to the list.

As always I’m starting with our old favourites, our local Northamptonshire libraries and museums.

Your Local Library

Our libraries offer a range of free activities, from storytime, board games, songs and music and craft sessions. Check out your local events here for West Northamptonshire and here for North Northamptonshire.

Daventry Museum

Daventry Museum is free to visit and is currently hosting a ‘Sports and Leisure’ exhibition. It also has sensory bags available to borrow, which aim to make the museum more accessible for those who would appreciate a calmer environment.

Wellingborough Museum

Wellingborough Museum has a rage of free activities running over the Easter holidays, including a wildlife pawprint trail, birds of prey and arts and crafts.

Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

The latest exhibition at Northampton Museum is ‘Carboniferous Monsters: 100 million years before the dinsosaurs’. There’s also the history of Northampton and shoe galleries to explore.

Abington Park

Abington Park has a whole load of free activities to keep the whole family entertained. Abington Park Museum is free to visit and open 12-4pm bank holidays and Tuesday to Sunday during school holidays.

April is also the start of the ‘Bands in the Park’ program, where different bands appear in the bandstand in Abington Park on Bank holiday Mondays and Sundays from 5th April to 27th September 2-5pm.

Daventry Easter Market

Come along and shop with independent stallholders, exploring unique gifts and crafts or yummy food and drink to tantalise your taste buds. There will also be an Easter Trail, face painter and balloon modeller for all to enjoy, as well as more family-friendly entertainment. It all happens on Saturday 11th April, 10am-3pm, Daventry Town Centre.

Kettering Easter Trail

Grab a trail sheet from the library and follow the clues to crack the code. There’s a free sweet treat at the end if you can solve the puzzle. From Friday 27 March until Saturday 11 April (excluding Sundays and bank holidays) 10am – 5pm.

The Reading Tree, Weedon Depot

Join us at The Reading Tree for oodles of Easter Half Term fun, with lots of fun activities for all ages to enjoy, including Easter arts and crafts and a treasure hunt. All activities are FREE of charge, and there’s no need to pre-book, just pop along and join in the fun.

The Canal Museum, Stoke Bruerne

The Canal Museum is holding an Easter Egg Hunt from 30th March to 10th April 10am-3pm. Now technically this isn’t free, as the trail sheets cost £1.50, however I’ve added it here as entry to the museum is free and it’s a very low cost activity, especially as there is a treat in store if you complete your sheet.
