About Me

I’m Lauren, a mum of two and a lover of the outdoors. I enjoy walking, camping and exploring the many amazing outdoor spaces that Britain has to offer. I started this blog to document our adventures-both big and small-and hopefully to pass on some tips and advice to help others. Put simply, the ethos behind The Helpful Hiker is that it’s easy for anyone and everyone to enjoy the outdoors. You don’t need to spend a lot of money and you don’t need lots of expensive equipment.

Our adventures definitely tend to be on the smaller side and we spend a lot of time exploring our home county of Northamptonshire. Having said that, we also enjoy getting further afield as often as we can to enjoy outdoor adventures as a family.

Our children are now primary school age, but there’s plenty of advice on here on how to deal with the baby and toddler years. I remember all too well the challenges (and fun!) of trying to enjoy our adventures with small children.

If you have a question, please get in touch – I’m very friendly and love to hear from other outdoor enthusiasts.

I hope I can give you some ideas and inspiration to get outside and have some fun!

Please feel free to get in touch and tell me about your own outdoor adventures.
