About Me

I’m Lauren, a mum of two and a lover of the outdoors. I enjoy walking, camping and exploring the many amazing outdoor spaces that Britain has to offer. I started this blog to document our adventures-both big and small-and hopefully to pass on some tips and advice to help others. Put simply, the ethos behind The Helpful Hiker is that it’s easy for anyone and everyone to enjoy the outdoors. You don’t need to spend a lot of money and you don’t need lots of expensive equipment.

After becoming a parent for the first time in January 2015, the blog has taken a more family friendly approach as me and my husband Luke try to get outside a much as possible and pass on our love of the outdoors to our sons.

Our three year old, Finn, is a great fan of camping

Baby Ollie was born August 2018 and so far is the world’s most chilled out baby

I was an Ordnance Survey GetOutside champion in 2017

I hope I can give you some ideas and inspiration to get outside and have some fun!

Please feel free to get in touch and tell me about your own outdoor adventures.
