Review: Elka Children's Waterproofs

Review: Elka Children's Waterproofs

I was recently asked by Wet Wednesdays if I would like to try out a set of waterproofs for Finn. It seemed particularly serendipitous as we were off to Wales for a short break, and as we all know, it always rains in Wales. Except it didn’t. Not at all. Not one little drop of water fell the whole time we were there. In fact, you can see from our photos that we enjoyed the most glorious, bright, sunny weather. As much as it pains me to say, I was a tiny bit disappointed.

From the moment I got the waterproofs, I was impressed by their quality, this is serious bad weather gear! The set we received was from Danish brand Elka, and consisted of dungaree trousers and jacket. Elka make some tough outdoor clothes for the likes of professional fishermen and they certainly don’t skimp on their children’s versions. The waterproofs felt really durable and warm, they also have double welded seams and storm flaps to keep all water out. They are fully washable, which is essential when dealing with mucky children.

As I say, we couldn’t really try them out properly as it didn’t bloody rain! However, we did go for a walk around some waterfalls. There was a hint of spray in the air and so I grabbed my chance and put them on Finn.

This picture is taken from behind the waterfall. You might just be able to spot me and Finn through the water!

The trousers were easy to put on, and also stayed on securely

They fitted him well, I’m hoping they’ll last another winter (although that may be wishful thinking!). Not wanting to wish a dreadful summer on us, but I would really like to properly put them to the test in some real rain. I will post an update once we have road tested them in wet conditions.

I love the detachable hood and peaked cap. Next time it rains poor Finn is getting dragged out!

Disclosure: I was given the waterproofs free of charge in exchange for an honest review. All views are my own.

Ah they are adorable! It’s a shame you couldn’t give them a good workout, but I’m sure you will before too long! Becky x #WhateverTheWeather

They are so lovely. I was disappointed, but I’ve got a feeling that they’ll get plenty of wear over the next year 🙂

They look fab on Finn! I’m sure you will have a chance to try them out in rain, but he looks ever so sweet on a drier day too. Wet Wednesday’s are great and have such a variety of bright waterproofs and at affordable prices too. It looks like you will get the wear out of them too. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

I bought a green set of jacket and trousers for my 4yr old grandson. They have lasted two years and as we live in Glasgow, testing them in rain has not been a problem. They have been in continuous use, and have not marked or torn, in fact they still look like new and have just been passed onto my younger grandson. They even survived falling off a bike unscathed. He is now the proud owner of a new red set. We got the jacket with trousers not dungerees, but he has been kept perfectly dry in all weathers, and as I said I’ve bought him a new set , and I’ve also purchased sets for my two nieces. All parents have been very impressed with them.
